Radio Stations in Klamath Falls, Oregon

Wynne Broadcasting Company, Inc. began with station KFLS-AM in 1971. Interestingly enough, Floyd Wynne, its founder, worked for KFLS, then known as KFLW in 1947. The original call letters of KFLW coincided with Floyd Wynnes initials (FLW). After a long career in newspaper which started at the Herald & News in Klamath Falls, which then owned KFLW, and ended as the Publisher of a newspaper in Petaluma, California,  he later bought the station and changed the name to KFLS.

In 1981, Robert Wynne, then the company Vice-President, began a quest to acquire an FM station in Klamath Falls. His efforts were successful when a construction permit was granted in late 1982. On April 1, 1983, KKRB (Sunny107) signed on the air. The station was originally 3,000 watts on 107.1, but after numerous upgrades, it now broadcasts at 51,000 watts on a frequency of 106.9 reaching four counties in two different states.

In late 1992, the Federal Communications Commission allotted a new frequency to Tulelake, California. Because of a change in FCC rules allowing ownership of more than two stations per market took effect just three days prior to the final day to file for the frequency, Wynne Broadcasting moved faster than all competitors and was the sole qualifying applicant for the new station. On July 22, 1993, KFLS-FM (KIX96) signed on the air at 96.5fm. This station began life at 1800 watts but has since upgraded to 20,000 watts broadcasting from Stukel Mountain (7300' above sea level) with a huge listening area.

In July of 2000, KFEG, better known as The Eagle 104.7, went on the air in Klamath Falls. "Real Classic Rock" is the last high power radio station frequency available in Klamath Falls. The Eagle broadcasts on a frequency of 104.7fm with 51,000 watts of clear power to reach everywhere in the Klamath Basin as well as reaching four counties in two states!

In November of 2007, KKKJ, know to the Basin as 3KJ, Jammin' 105.5 signed on. "Today's Hit Music" broadcasts at 105.5fm with 18,000 watts of power from a brand new digital transmission site. The clarity of this station is unbelievable as is demanded by its core demographic of 18-49 Adults.
