                What is most important…..politics….or your country?               

                Over the last few weeks we have seen an unrelenting attack on the President of the United States.

                Leading Democrats have not only called him a liar…but also that he is untrustworthy.   

                The President struck back in his Friday speech when he pointed out that leading Democrats in the Senate had access to the very same information that he did and that a large share of them had echoed the call for removal of Saddam Hussein.

                He also clearly indicated that not only was the intelligence information from the CIA and the Pentagon citing the fact that Hussein either had or was trying to secure weapons of mass destruction.   The same intelligence was shared by other nations, including condemnations of Hussein by the United Nations.   You will remember that UN representatives were sent on a number of occasions to Iraq with as mission of checking on weapons of mass destruction.  Hussein’s leaders led those groups around by the nose.

                Finally the UN cited a last request to Hussein to allow full inspection or suffer the consequences…..but nothing happened….a common occurrence with the United Nation.

                It was then that the Congress authorized the U.S. to employ force against Hussein….and the Iraq war commenced.

                Now…many of those same leading Democrats who voted for the war are busy blaming the President…..saying he lied to the American people.

                Not only that, but in a time of war, they are intent on trying to totally discredit the President and the Iraq war.

                Led by Harry Reid they have ignored the first Senate investigation that proved there was no intent by the administration to manipulate the intelligence that led to war, and have claimed the second phase of the investigation will show the President lied to America.

                This has been just a part of the effort….which included the indictment of the Senate whip  Tom Delay on a misuse of campaign funds….the Senate Majority Leader Frist on some issue of selling stock in his family’s affairs….and then the aide to Vice President Dick Chaney….Scooter Libby on revealing the name of a CIA employee to the news media.

                All issues that are strictly problematical….but the Democrats charge the administration can’t be trusted.

                If these charges were made in almost any other country….these people would be charged with treason….at a time when that nation was at war.

                Not only any war, but as the President clearly indicated….a world wide war against insurgents who willingly kill men, women and children….without regard to race and even religion.  They have no conscience.

                The recent bombings in Jordan…coupled with countless other attacks in many nations around the world indicate the nature and the extent of these insurgents, and that the war in Iraq is but the beginning of a world wide conflict with these murdering forces.

                Instead of it being a time for the nation to unite behind the young men and women in Iraq who are laying their lives on the line for freedom for the Iraqi people…..we have the naysayers in our midst who preach nothing but turn tail and run.

                Imagine what that does for the morale of these wonderful young men and women.

                It is not a time for scurrilous accusations…..there is plenty of time for that when the elections roll around next year……

                It is a time for putting the future of America first…..not party politics.
